The £7m scheme to refurbish the Glossop Town Halls Complex is well underway.
The scheme will see the Town Hall, Glossop Market Hall and Municipal Buildings brought up to modern standards. It is funded by the Labour-led High Peak Borough Council with a £2m from the D2N2 Local Enterprise Partnership’s Getting Building Fund.
The works include:
- Replacing the roofs
- Installing new sky light roof lanterns
- Restoring the ornate plasterwork and replacing the lift in the Town Hall
- Creating a new mezzanine floor in the Market Hall to
- provide new units for retail, creative and start-up businesses
Councillor Anthony McKeown, Labour Leader of the Council, said: “By investing in these important Glossop buildings we will create a modern vibrant hub which can deliver the business opportunities and community spaces we need to aid our recovery post Covid.”
