Jean Todd’s Bio

In the 9 years that I have spent as a councillor for Buxton Central, I have had a steep learning curve of both council procedure and problems that residents endure.

I have liaised with council officers on behalf of residents to solve issues with failures in infrastructure, anti-social behaviour, planning enforcement and allotment management.

I would like to continue fighting for people’s rights and aim to help make Buxton a better place to live in.  Buxton Central ward is quite diverse in its character, having both the developing Crescent Hotel and some very run-down areas within it. Through my council initiative fund, I have helped many of the voluntary groups around the town, such as the food bank, homeless help, community arts and Friends of Buxton Station, to name a few.

As an active member of Transition Buxton and the Town Team, I have actively supported the Serpentine Community Farm and helped with other projects around the town, including the new travel plan and neighbourhood plan.

Jean Todd is one of two Labour councillors for Buxton Central Ward on High Peak Borough Council, working alongside Councillor Payge Hacking.
