Following the High Peak Borough Council ‘s declaration of a climate emergency, the Council backed plans for the Borough to be carbon neutral by 2030.

The first part of the plan was published in July concentrating on action the Council can take over the carbon emissions of its own activities. and listed the key areas of focus for 2021/22.

Now the Council is working on plans to work with businesses and other organisations to reach the 2030 target for the Borough as whole.

As part of the efforts to speed up this process the Council is recruiting a dedicated climate change officer and will publish the part two of the plan before the end of the year.

Councillor Jean Todd – executive member for Climate Change said:

“The time for action is now and I want to reassure people that there is a huge amount of work taking place.”
