Vladimir Putin’s attack on Ukraine will have horrendous and tragic consequences that will echo throughout the world and throughout history.
All those who believe in the triumph of democracy over dictatorship, good over evil, freedom over tyranny must now support the Ukrainian people. They have been cast onto the frontline of a war, simply for existing.
Our hearts are with the people of Ukraine, whether they are staying and fighting or leaving to protect themselves and their families. Our hearts are with those of the Russian people who did not want this war but who now find themselves lined up against people that they call friends or brothers.
And our hearts too are with people in this country, people in High Peak, who are worried and uncertain. Ukrainians and Russians here in the UK will be worrying for friends and family back home. Our hearts are with them.
