Since taking control of the Council in 2019, we have faced two major crises: Toddbrook Dam and Covid-19.

The impact of these events, especially the pandemic, meant many of our initial plans were delayed or changed so that the Council could, rightly, focus on responding to those challenges. By working cooperatively with partners across the borough – from community groups to businesses – we have secured external funding to invest in and to tackle local issues: from turning round business grants speedily to offering extra help to feed youngsters during school holidays. As we move on from the pandemic, we will redouble our efforts to develop and to further strengthen our partnerships so that we are ready for whatever challenges may come, working to be on your side.
